Mission Statement: Reach for a Difference will support individual, family & community actions to address identified needs & issues of the autism spectrum & other neurodevelopmental delays in the West Central Texas area surrounding Abilene. To this end, the corporation will engage in responsive support activities to promote greater understanding of these needs & issues & to help develop, locate, & provide resources to meet expressed needs.
Further REACH is an organization dedicated to hosting an ongoing forum (I call it “A Conversation”) to discuss the issues confronting individuals & families on the autism spectrum. We at REACH understand the difficulties & frustration that arise when families are attempting to access & thoughtfully participate in provider services for their family members. Our present goals are to document the desires, wishes, & needs of families on the spectrum & with that information develop a road map to those resources offering services. Where resources are lacking, we at REACH hope to be a part of the process to help present institutions & agencies formulate & implement useful services that address those needs.
REACH members are comprised of parents, professionals, & interested community members. We are presently inviting parents of those on the spectrum to begin having conversations with us so that we may document more specifically the needs of families & bind ourselves together for support & family development.
